North Star Recycling shortlisted for MIIT 2025 innovation task

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially released the “List of Shortlisted Units for the 2025 Major Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Innovation Task — Open Call for Breakthroughs.” Recommended by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, North Star Recycling, as the lead organization, together with Tsinghua University, China University of Mining and Technology, Hefei Hengli Equipment Co., Ltd. (the 43rd Research Institute of CETC), and Haier Group’s Qingdao Hailvyuan Circular Technology Co., Ltd., was shortlisted for the task “Complete Sets of Green and High-Efficiency Resource Recovery Equipment for Retired Lithium Batteries.”

This marks that North Star Recycling’s technical strength in the low-carbon, digital-intelligent circular utilization of retired lithium batteries has received authoritative national-level recognition. It fully demonstrates North Star Recycling’s technological leadership, engineering implementation capability, and industry influence in the power battery recycling field, and further reflects the high expectations and trust the state places in North Star Recycling for advancing the industry’s technological upgrading, building a safe and controllable resource recovery system, and leading the development of green new-quality productive forces.

The “resource recovery of retired lithium batteries” is precisely the core track that North Star Advanced Circular Technology (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. has long cultivated. As an enterprise listed in MIIT’s “Industry Specification Conditions for the Comprehensive Utilization of Used Traction Batteries from New Energy Vehicles” (fifth batch), North Star Recycling focuses on the R&D and industrial practice of full-chain, low-carbon, and digital-intelligent circular utilization technologies for retired lithium batteries and other emerging-industry waste, having developed an integrated solution capability covering technology, process, equipment, operation, and carbon management.

As the lead organization, North Star Recycling will join forces with Tsinghua University, China University of Mining and Technology, Hefei Hengli Equipment Co., Ltd. (the 43rd Research Institute of CETC), and Haier Group’s Qingdao Hailvyuan Circular Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly tackle key core technologies and build a globally leading retired lithium battery recycling technology and equipment system, contributing scientific and technological strength to the building of a national strategic capability for the safe, efficient, and sustainable circular utilization of critical metal resources.
