On the first day of the conference, Dr. Zhang Tao, Chairman and General Manager of North Star Recycling, was invited to the In-Depth Technical Forum. Facing the export barriers brought by the EU carbon tariff and the implementation of the Battery Regulation, Dr. Zhang Tao shared North Star Recycling’s breakthrough approach: leveraging AI technology to accurately account for carbon data, empowering export-oriented SMEs and platform clients with carbon-reduction management, and turning compliance costs into green competitive advantages; responding to the new domestic battery recycling policies by building a compliant traceability system with digital technology, using data to substantiate the identity of recycled materials, perfectly meeting EU regulatory requirements; while also deepening full lifecycle battery management, iterating and upgrading functional modules to meet multiple overseas data supervision and battery passport generation needs.

Dr. Zhang Tao emphasized that circularity and carbon reduction are inherently symbiotic: mining and smelting of raw materials is the highest carbon-consuming stage of the battery industry chain, and increasing the use of recycled materials is precisely the core battleground for industry decarbonization.
