On June 9, the Siemens China Zero Carbon Pioneer seminar series—the Power Battery Circular Utilization Technology Innovation Symposium—was successfully held at the North Star Advanced Recycling Technology Research Institute. Co-hosted by Siemens and North Star Recycling, the event gathered over 50 authoritative scholars, industry leaders, and upstream and downstream practitioners. Participants conducted in-depth exchanges on power battery recycling technology innovation, market landscape, system construction, global development, and digital-intelligent integration, building consensus and charting a sustainable future for the power battery circular industry.

Site Visit: Witnessing Intelligent Recycling in Action

The event kicked off this morning. Dr. Zhang Tao, Chairman and General Manager of North Star Recycling, delivered a welcome speech, extending sincere greetings to all guests and explaining the symposium’s purpose: to build an exchange platform, deepen industrial collaboration, and jointly explore technological innovation.

After the opening remarks, all guests visited the digital exhibition hall, production lines, and laboratories.

Guests examined production operations, application scenarios, and digital control systems up close, gaining a direct understanding of how digital-intelligent technologies are applied throughout the power battery recycling process. Mr. Wan Bing, Head of Strategy and Sustainability for Siemens Greater China, then took the stage. Drawing on Siemens’ global layout and intelligent manufacturing strengths, he interpreted industry development trends and strategic cooperation plans, offering new ideas and directions for industrial upgrading.

Professor Xu Shengming from Tsinghua University grounded his remarks in academic frontiers and industrial practice. Taking the full value chain of waste power battery resource utilization as the thread, he delivered a systematic interpretation of frontier technology exploration, key process breakthroughs, and industry-university-research integration. He deeply analyzed current technical barriers, market landscape, and development opportunities, precisely mapping out the industry’s evolution and intrinsic development patterns, inspiring all attendees.

During the joint solution sharing session, North Star Recycling’s technical leaders took the stage one by one to present an integrated full-chain technical solution. Liu Jiangbo, Director of the Intelligent Equipment Business Line, explained intelligent AI robots, intelligent module busbar disassembly equipment, and battery pack intelligent assisted disassembly systems, introducing the core functions of three robots and systems covering pre-incident warning, emergency handling, and automated disassembly, and outlining the path toward fully unmanned and intelligent operations. He then joined Dr. Zheng Senjing of Siemens Digital Industries for an electronic ribbon-cutting ceremony, witnessing the landing of jointly developed achievements.

Dr. Liu Mingqiong, Director of the Shredding and Separation Business Line, focused on low-carbon digital shredding and separation solutions, addressing pain points in traditional processes and elaborating on core technical advantages, process essentials, electrolyte treatment, and key R&D projects.

Dr. Song Shaole, Director of the Materials Regeneration Business Line, detailed advanced battery materials regeneration technology, systematically explaining recycling process flows, technical characteristics, and application value. The technical experts, rooted in technological fundamentals, carefully broke down core content such as algorithm applications, intelligent sensing, and process optimization.

Thematic Seminars: Analyzing Hot Topics, Planning for Digital Globalization

In the afternoon, the seminar focused on two major industry hotspots to accurately gauge development trends. The first thematic seminar centered on green global expansion of power batteries and the battery passport system. Ms. Zhang Li, Regional Manager of SGS, interpreted the overall solution for EU battery regulations based on global regulatory requirements, analyzing core clauses and implementation standards clause by clause, and sorting out compliance points, response strategies, and landing paths across all links to help participating companies avoid policy risks and build a complete compliance management system.

Mr. Yan Tao, Chief Information Security Officer of Siemens China, deeply interpreted relevant domestic and international industrial policies, cross-border trade rules, and overseas market access requirements. Focusing on the Siemens Battery Passport, he comprehensively explained how the system helps companies open overseas access channels, strengthen brand credibility, and safeguard the green globalization journey.

The second thematic seminar focused on industrial intelligent technology empowerment. Dr. Zheng Senjing of Siemens and Dr. Ge Linhan of North Star Recycling jointly shared industrial AI overall solutions, exploring how artificial intelligence, big data, and other digital technologies can be deeply integrated into the entire power battery circular utilization process to reduce costs and improve efficiency through digital means, demonstrating the unlimited potential of intelligent technology and circular industry integration.

During their sharing, the two doctors combined actual project cases, interpreting technical principles, system architecture, and landing results one by one, clearly demonstrating the practical achievements and development prospects of deep integration between digital, intelligent technologies and the power battery circular industry, and providing referable and actionable ideas for the industry’s digital transformation.

Professor Xu Shengming from Tsinghua University, Professor Wang Jingwei from Shanghai Polytechnic University, Chen Xinguang, Head of Siemens China’s Battery Industry, Yang Hailin, Sustainability Manager for Siemens Greater China, Dr. Zhu Heng, Head of Application Technology R&D for Linde Group Asia Pacific, and Ms. Belinda Lau, Business Department Manager of Alfa Laval China Energy Division, together with other authoritative experts and senior executives, gathered for an in-depth intellectual dialogue.

Against the backdrop of comprehensive implementation of new industry regulations, guests freely expressed their views on a series of key issues including core pain points in industrial development, difficulties in full lifecycle management implementation, cross-industry chain collaborative development, key technology breakthrough directions, deep industry-university-research integration, standard system construction, environmental and safety control, and continuous production quality improvement and cost reduction. At the closing of the event, Mr. Yang Hailin delivered a summary speech.
