The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance grandly opened on July 17. At the main exhibition area of the AI Application Ecosystem Hall, North Star Recycling’s Intelligent Battery Module Disassembly System made a high-profile debut. Equipped with the Siemens Eigen Engineering Agent, it was the only specialized intelligent battery-recycling equipment showcased in the hall, appearing alongside a host of AI giants to drive the intelligent upgrade of the resource-recycling industry through industrial intelligence.

Under the theme “Intelligent Partners, Co-creating the Future,” WAIC 2026 was held from July 17 to 20 across four venues in three areas of Shanghai — the Expo, Zhangjiang, and West Bund. Encompassing top-tier academic platforms, high-level international dialogues, cutting-edge research exchanges, global governance mechanisms, a tiered industrial ecosystem, roundtables of leading enterprises, forums on ideas and humanities, youth innovation competitions, a public science-popularization system, a roster of world-renowned scholars, benchmark frontier exhibits, and a long-term online service platform, the event built a comprehensive framework for this AI grand gathering.
WAIC Live | North Star Recycling Makes a Stunning Debut
The much-anticipated 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance (WAIC) officially kicked off. As a premier global event in the AI field, this year’s conference brought together the world’s top technology companies and frontier AI achievements, showcasing innovative practices of AI empowering every industry. North Star Recycling’s Intelligent Battery Module Disassembly System made a grand appearance at the main exhibition area of the AI Application Ecosystem Hall. Powered by the Siemens Eigen Engineering Agent, this intelligent equipment was also the only specialized battery-recycling system in the hall, standing among the ranks of AI giants to present to the industry a digital-intelligent solution for the power-battery recycling track.

As the new-energy industry develops at high speed, the volume of retired power batteries keeps growing, and the battery-recycling sector is rapidly shifting from traditional manual methods toward flexible, automated, and intelligent production. Module disassembly, a core process in battery resource regeneration, has long faced industry pain points such as the wide variety of cell types, high disassembly-precision requirements, difficult safety control, and insufficient production-line flexibility.

Drawing on North Star Recycling’s years of technical accumulation in the battery-cycling field, combined with the powerful industrial-AI capabilities of the Siemens Eigen Engineering Agent, this Intelligent Battery Module Disassembly System achieves deep integration of process and intelligent technology. Breaking through the limitations of traditional assistive AI, it empowers the disassembly equipment to adaptively recognize battery modules of different specifications, perform flexible and precise disassembly, perceive full-process status in real time, and autonomously regulate abnormal operating conditions. Balancing production efficiency, operational safety, and high material recovery rates, the system frees the battery-disassembly process from manual dependence and builds a safe, efficient, and flexible intelligent disassembly line.

At the exhibition site, numerous industry experts and visiting customers stopped by the booth to watch the intelligent module-disassembly system in operation up close and to exchange in-depth views on the intelligent, low-carbon development of power-battery cycling. This WAIC debut marks a significant fusion of resource-recycling equipment and frontier industrial-agent technology. Grounded in the real-world operating conditions of power-battery recycling, North Star Recycling has brought advanced AI technology down to physical manufacturing lines, offering replicable intelligent-upgrade pathways for battery-recycling factories worldwide.
In recent years, China has actively embraced AI development, with the core industries of the intelligent economy now exceeding one trillion RMB in scale. Moving forward, North Star Recycling will continue to deepen its ecosystem collaboration with Siemens, iteratively upgrading a series of intelligent equipment such as smart disassembly systems and intelligent inspection robots, and constantly exploring the deployment of industrial agents across the full chain of battery recycling. It will keep empowering the intelligent upgrade of the resource-recycling industry with its hard-core intelligent-equipment technology, support the closed-loop sustainable development of the new-energy industry, and contribute its strength to China’s intelligent manufacturing.

The conference is ongoing. Partners from all sectors are cordially invited to visit North Star Recycling’s booth H1-A1105 at the Shanghai Expo Exhibition Hall to exchange ideas and explore a new future of AI-powered green battery cycling.
