During the 2024 China International Import Expo (CIIE), Siemens officially presented the second annual “Zero Carbon Pioneer Awards,” recognizing nine enterprises from sectors including resource recycling, metallurgy, and chemicals with the “Excellence Award.” North Star Advanced Recycling Technology (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. was honored with the “Empowerment Pioneer Excellence Award.”
The list of award-winning companies was announced on-site by Ms. Ma Qing, Executive Vice President of Siemens (China) Co., Ltd., Head of Talent and Organization Development for Siemens Greater China, and Director of Sustainability. Dr. Zhang Tao, Chairman and General Manager of North Star Recycling, and Dr. Ge Linhan, Marketing Director, attended the awards ceremony and shared in this honorable achievement.
The “Zero Carbon Pioneer Award” recognizes outstanding contributions made by enterprises in promoting green and low-carbon transformation in industry, implementing low-carbon practices, and achieving sustainable development goals. North Star Recycling will work together with Siemens, leveraging the “Zero Carbon Pioneer Award” as a platform to jointly foster a green ecosystem and empower the resource recycling sector in building end-to-end zero-carbon industrial chains.
In June 2024, the inaugural Siemens Sustainability Forum was held in Shanghai. During the event, the “Siemens China Zero Carbon Pioneer Partner Program” was officially launched. As one of the key initiatives under this program, the second Zero Carbon Pioneer Award was simultaneously introduced, calling for broad participation from enterprises. It aims to support Chinese industries in accelerating sustainable development through advanced technology, knowledge sharing, and financial services, among other dimensions.
This year’s awards attracted active participation from numerous suppliers and partners, showcasing the widespread application of green technologies across various fields—from sustainable development in manufacturing and green energy transition to green supply chain development, circular economy practices, and green global expansion. Notably, compared to previous years, this year’s selection process placed greater emphasis on the importance of technological innovation and cross-sector collaboration.

Both parties look forward to continuing their collaboration in pursuing a zero-carbon future, achieving resource sharing, mutual innovation, and shared benefits.
